AOAO 2020 Annual Spring Meeting Cancellation

Attendee’s Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately, it has become impossible to hold the 2020 Annual Spring Meeting due to public health guidance and institutional and state travel restrictions. Following the announcement of the cancellation, AOAO is sharing important details for attendees.

Will the Annual Spring Meeting be rescheduled?
Meetings of this size are planned years in advance and require extensive logistical planning. This includes careful coordination with hotels large enough to accommodate meeting space and guest room needs. Given the scale of our meeting requirements, rescheduling is not an option.

Will any of the content be made available?
At this time, there is no plan for content to be made available other than the Board Review Session and the Program Director’s Meeting.

Will my registration fee be refunded?
Yes, your registration fee will be refunded in full. Staff members will be working as quickly as possible, but to ensure complete accuracy the refund process for this large number of registrants may take up to 45 days to appear on your credit card statement. If you paid by check, your refund will be issued to you by check. We appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

What about my hotel reservation?
Due to state government regulations the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa is closed until May 1. The hotel has informed us that all confirmed reservations will be automatically refunded to you. No time frame for which you can expect your refund was given at this time.

Will registrants/speakers be refunded for airline tickets?
No, the AOAO will not refund individual airline costs. Please contact your airline directly to ask about cancellation options.

If I was due to attend the Annual Spring Meeting to fulfill my meeting attendance requirement, what do I do?
All members due to attend the 2020 Annual Spring Meeting will receive an extension to attend next year’s meeting. You do not need to contact the AOAO office, this will be done for you automatically.

I was planning to attend the Osteopathic Orthopedic Board Review course, what do I do now?

The AOAO CME Committee is currently exploring alternative options for members who were interested in attending this course. We will provide further updates over the next few weeks.

Will the Skills Lab be rescheduled?
There are no current plans to reschedule the Skills Lab.

I need CME to fulfill my state requirements and for certification, how can I make up the lost credits?
Contact your state’s medical board directly to see if they are offering a waiver or special consideration for this year’s CME requirements. Questions regarding CME requirements as required for Osteopathic Continuous Certification may be directed to the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery at (312) 202-8208.

Consider attending the AOAO Annual Fall Meeting, October 22-24 at the Marriott Austin in Austin, Texas. The Annual Fall Meeting will offer at least 20 CME credits.
